Forgive But Don’t Forget

No matter how many apologies you gave,
Or how you tried to talk your way out of it,
With pretty practised lies,
There are some scars that never fade

For all the twisted things you did,
And all the times you called me crazy,
The guilty look on your face,
Is not something you can hide now.

I may never perfectly explain,
The damage you did to me,
Or the manipulative curse you had me under,
But you will always look different to me.

They say you need to forgive those who wrong you,
I say forgive, but never forget.

No Place

It might not be important to you
It might not be for you
But if you want progress
To see what you love, grow
They you must fight
Fight for those who cannot
For those who feel shunned
And are silenced
By a community who would rather
They have ‘no place here’.

Who Said You Were Broken

Who told you, you were broken

Did someone say those words

To make you feel wrong

You have been beaten down

But you learnt how to fix yourself

To make it all ok again

Just because you are different

Doesn’t make you something bad

You might not see that yet

But you were never truly broken

Just a little worn down

So ignore their judgement.

Stopped Listening

It started in high school,

Things got bad

And I was in pain.

You didn’t want to admit it

So you stopped listening.

You became absorbed in yourself

To distract from my pain

And now you don’t know how to listen

And I don’t know how to talk to you.

Now all you do is talk

About the only topic you have: you.

And no-one else is listening

Because we’ve heard it all before.

You fear the silence

It tells you the horrible truth.

You don’t know us anymore,

And things aren’t right between us.

Because you weren’t listening when I needed you to.

Meeting Again

Facing you now

Isn’t like seeing an old friend

I realise now

With a sinking feeling

That I don’t miss you anymore.

Once you tore me apart

I was crushed

That you could ignore me so

But not anymore

Not today

Seeing you now

We talk about people in common

As if that’s all we ever had

No common interests

No past history

I look at you differently

Can’t believe I ever felt so bad

Like I wasn’t good enough

When in reality

You would never be enough for me.
